Multan Customs foils Rs.15.54m smuggling attempt

MULTAN: Collectorate of Customs Enforcement successfully intercepted a Bedford truck laden with high-value smuggled goods on Kot Addu Road near Qasba Gujrat.

The contraband was concealed beneath a layer of stone dust in an attempt to evade detection, according to press release issued by Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) here Sunday.

Upon detailed examination, the enforcement team recovered a significant quantity of betel nuts, cigarettes, china salt, and J.M. gutkha. The total value of the seized goods along with the vehicle has been estimated at Rs. 15.546 million.

The confiscated goods and vehicle have been taken into custody, and legal proceedings under the Customs Act, 1969 have been initiated.

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has commended the vigilance and professionalism of the Multan Customs Enforcement team for their continued commitment to curbing illicit trade and protecting legitimate commerce.

FBR reiterated its firm resolve to combat smuggling in all its forms, safeguard national revenue, and protect public health and the economy from the harmful impacts of unlawful trade.
