Allied Bank, Meezan Bank, American Lyceum among 77 sealed in Lahore

LAHORE: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) sealed 77 illegal commercial buildings and premises that defaulted on commercialisation fees in LDA-controlled areas and various housing schemes.

LDA’s Town Planning Wing sealed 28 buildings on the Township’s Haider Road, 16 in Gulberg and New Garden Town, 15 in Gulshan-e-Ravi and Samanabad, and 18 in Allama Iqbal Town during operations against illegal commercial use and nonpayment of commercialisation fees.

The sealed premises include Allied Bank, Meezan Bank, American Lyceum, Afaq School, APS Secondary School, The Merit School, Paradise Academy & School, Huda Foundation, D Mart, Discount Store, pharmacy, beauty salon, grocery stores, food outlets, auto workshops, offices, and other businesses.

LDA Chief Town Planner I, Assad-uz-Zaman, and Chief Town Planner II, Azhar Ali, supervised the operations carried out by the enforcement teams, assisted by the Police.

According to LDA officials, several notices were served on the owners of these buildings before the operations were carried out.

LDA Director General Tahir Farooq has directed continuing indiscriminate operations against violations of bylaws, encroachments, illegal commercial buildings, and non-payment of commercialisation fees in housing schemes and LDA-controlled areas.
