LAHORE: Chairman of the Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA), Moazzam Iqbal Sipra, announced that the Large Taxpayer Unit (LTU) will be operational in Lahore within the next two months.
The announcement came during a meeting with a delegation of lawyers led by the President of the Lahore Tax Bar Association, who visited the PRA headquarters on Saturday. The chairman also revealed plans to establish a dedicated training wing aimed at enhancing the professional skills of revenue officers.
The delegation discussed various challenges faced by legal professionals handling tax matters and praised the IT reforms introduced by the PRA. They welcomed initiatives to improve efficiency and transparency, including online hearings and other measures to facilitate taxpayers and practitioners.
Chairman Sipra emphasized that proposals related to Pakistan Revenue Automation Limited (PRAL) have been directed for immediate implementation, underlining that timely resolution of issues is a priority. He clarified that enforcement-related matters will be managed at the respective commissioners’ offices rather than at PRA headquarters.
To further improve taxpayer facilitation and transparency, the chairman added that the e-system is being strengthened and the number of enforcement officers is being increased.
The meeting was attended by Member Legal, Commissioner Lahore Division, legal consultants, and other senior PRA officials.
