LAHORE: The Corporate Tax Office (CTO) Lahore has recovered Rs. 2.646 billion in a major tax enforcement action, marking a significant step by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to strengthen compliance and protect public revenue.

According to detaills, the recovery relates to outstanding income tax demand created against a taxpayer who failed to meet statutory obligations under the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001. The demand was raised after the successful completion of assessment proceedings and was subsequently recovered by CTO Lahore after following all prescribed legal procedures.

The case stands out due to the creation of a substantial tax demand in a single assessment as well as the effective recovery of the amount in accordance with applicable provisions of tax law. Officials stated that the enforcement action reflects professional handling of a high-value case while ensuring due process and fairness.

The recovery highlights the effectiveness of FBR and its field formations in dealing with serious instances of tax default and safeguarding government revenue. It also underscores the authority’s resolve to pursue non-compliant taxpayers through lawful and transparent means.

Member Inland Revenue (Operations), FBR, appreciated the dedicated efforts of the officers of CTO Lahore and commended their role in enforcing tax laws and protecting the national exchequer.

The FBR reiterated that while it continues to encourage voluntary tax compliance, strict enforcement action will be taken against those who deliberately avoid fulfilling their tax responsibilities.
