LAHORE: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) sealed 103 illegal commercial buildings and premises that defaulted on commercialisation fees in LDA-controlled areas and various housing schemes on Monday.
LDA’s Town Planning Wing sealed 17 buildings in Gulberg and Faisal Town, 55 in Audit and Accounts Society and on Township’s College Road, 12 in Gulshan-e-Ravi and Samanabad, and 19 in Allama Iqbal Town and Azam Gardens during operations against illegal commercial use and nonpayment of commercialisation fees.
The sealed premises include Chughtai’s Lab, Huda Foundation, The Lahore School System, Lahore Public High School, Fine Care Medical Store, private bank, beauty salon, auto workshops, grocery stores, food points, offices, and other businesses.
LDA Chief Town Planner I, Assad-uz-Zaman, and Chief Town Planner II, Azhar Ali, supervised the operations carried out by the enforcement teams, assisted by the Police.
According to the LDA officials, several notices were served on the owners of these buildings prior to the operations being carried out.
LDA Director General Tahir Farooq has directed the continuation of indiscriminate operations against illegal commercial buildings and non-payment of commercialisation fees in housing schemes and LDA-controlled areas.
