FBR holds awareness seminar at GCCI to promote tax compliance & accountability

ISLAMABAD: Pursuing the Prime Minister of Pakistan’s vision to broaden the tax base, the Federal Board of Revenue held a Seminar at the Gujranwala Chamber of Commerce & Industry (GCCI) to inform the business community of key reforms and measures aimed at broadening the tax base, enhancing voluntary compliance, strengthening transparency and accountability across Pakistan’s revenue administration.

 The seminar was organized by the Taxpayer’s Services (TPS) Wing of the FBR under the supervision of Member TPS Ms. Tehmina Aamer. The FBR team comprised Mr. Muhammad Muti-ur-Rehman Mumtaz, Secretary Taxpayers’ Education & Facilitation and Mr. Abdul Rehman Sheikh, Second Secretary Facilitation.

The seminar was attended by a large number of traders, industrialists and members of the business community. Mr. Saad Jamil, Senior Vice President, Mr. Faisal Sattar Mughal, Vice President, along with chairpersons of various standing committees and executive members of the Chamber.

 During the session, the FBR officials delivered a comprehensive presentation on reforms introduced under the FBR Transformation Plan. He highlighted major initiatives including Point of Sale (POS) Integration, Track & Trace System, Digital Invoicing, Faceless Customs System, Cargo Tracking System, Direct Port Delivery System, Reward & Rating System, and Video Analytics for production monitoring in different sectors. He informed the participants that Video Analytics has already been deployed in the sugar and cement sectors and is currently being implemented in the textile sector.

 The presentation highlighted that the integrated implementation of these reforms have contributed to improved tax compliance, increased tax-to-GDP ratio, and reinforced transparency and accountability within the revenue framework.

 This was followed by an interactive Question & Answer session, during which members of the business community raised various queries regarding tax facilitation and compliance. The FBR team addressed the questions comprehensively and provided necessary guidance.

 The seminar concluded with the presentation of souvenirs and giveaways by FBR to the office bearers and executive members of GCCI as a gesture of appreciation and collaboration.

 The event reaffirmed FBR’s commitment to sustained engagement with the business community and its resolve to build a transparent, accountable, efficient and facilitative tax system for betterment of national economy.
