ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has announced plans to establish Digital Enforcement Stations across Pakistan as part of efforts to curb smuggling and illegal trade.

According to FBR sources, the new stations will be given full authority to stop and take action against unlawful commercial activities. People found involved in smuggling or illegal trade will be apprehended under the new enforcement system.

The FBR has sought an allocation of Rs10 billion for the project. Under the plan, existing check posts will be upgraded into Digital Enforcement Stations equipped with modern technology and improved operating procedures.

The initiative also includes hiring retired military officers and personnel on a contractual basis to strengthen enforcement and oversight. FBR officials said the digital stations will help improve monitoring, reduce smuggling, and ensure stricter implementation of trade laws across the country.

Staff deployed at these stations will receive specialized training to operate advanced technology and follow standardized enforcement protocols. The move is being described as a major step toward modernizing Pakistan’s anti-smuggling framework and improving border and trade controls.
