Peshawar Enforcement seizes smuggle goods worth Rs101.91m

PESHAWAR: Collectorate of Customs Enforcement Peshawar seized smuggled foreign-origin cloth, cigarettes and other goods worth Rs101.91 million.

According to details, Collectorate of Customs Enforcement, Peshawar, during intelligence-based operations conducted over the last one week has successfully foiled multiple attempts to smuggle foreign-origin cloth, cigarettes, and other contraband goods, along with the seizure of offending vehicles.

The cumulative estimated value of the seized goods and vehicles stands at Rs101.91 million.

The confiscated consignments included 14,000 sleeves of foreign-origin cigarettes valued at Rs. 45 million, 7,500 kilograms of foreign-origin cloth worth Rs. 35 million and other smuggled items valued at Rs. 21.91 million, comprising tyres, lithium-ion batteries, betel nuts, poppy seeds and dry yeast.

In addition to enforcement actions, the Collectorate is playing a proactive role in identifying smuggling trends and sharing timely intelligence with other field formations, enabling coordinated efforts to prevent the movement of non-duty-paid and contraband goods within its jurisdiction.

All seized goods and vehicles have been taken into custody under the relevant provisions of the Customs Act, 1969, and further legal proceedings are underway.

The FBR remains committed to eliminating smuggling, protecting national revenue and ensuring strict enforcement of customs laws through intelligence-led operations and inter-agency coordination.
