RAWALPINDI: Doctors in Rawalpindi have rejected the Federal Board of Revenue’s (FBR) order to install POS systems in clinics and hospitals. They said they will not accept physical monitoring of their clinics and will continue their protest until their demands are accepted.
The decision was made at a divisional convention of the Pakistan Medical Association (PMA), attended by a large number of doctors from both public and private sectors, along with representatives of various doctors’ organisations. Participants discussed what they called unfair and disrespectful treatment of doctors by the FBR.
Doctors clearly rejected the installation of POS systems, saying that monitoring clinics in this way goes against their dignity, respect, and professional independence.
They said they are ready to review their tax returns themselves and follow the law, but will not accept pressure or force from any authority.
PMA Punjab President Dr Kamran Saeed informed the convention about meetings held with the FBR Chairman and the Federal Finance Minister and shared details of ongoing talks.
At the end of the meeting, doctors announced they would continue their protest. They warned that if their demands are ignored, they may shut down private medical institutions across the country. They stressed that they will not compromise on their dignity and professional freedom.
