LAHORE: The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) and the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) have agreed to advance an “Implementation Cooperation Framework Agreement” to provide practical, on-ground support to micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), helping them scale up and become export-ready.
The decision was made during a meeting between SMEDA CEO Nadia Jahangir Seth and TDAP Chief Executive Faiz Ahmad.
Both sides reviewed the previously signed MoU and committed to a focused action plan. Ms Seth emphasised that the agreement will target tangible milestones through training, improved access to finance, and measures to boost Pakistan’s exports.
She highlighted SMEDA’s ongoing three-year Business Plan, with a renewed focus on cluster development, including engagements with SME clusters in light engineering, furniture, and honey production in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s vision for collaboration between SMEDA and TDAP was also noted, aiming to accelerate MSME support and export growth.
To coordinate efforts, Mr Sheharyar Tahir will act as SMEDA’s focal person, while Director General TDAP Punjab Rafia Syed will represent TDAP.
Faiz Ahmad expressed enthusiasm for strengthening institutional collaboration, stressing the need to transform aspiring enterprises into exporters using digital technology and e-commerce.
He urged SMEDA to identify priority clusters and work with TDAP to provide comprehensive, results-driven support. Both parties agreed on regular coordination and periodic reviews to ensure measurable outcomes.
