PRA intensifies crackdown against delayed tax payments, record tampering

LAHORE: Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) has intensified its enforcement actions against businesses involved in delayed tax payments and manipulation of records.

Inspection teams conducted detailed scrutiny of records at 18 business points located in upscale areas of Lahore.

During the operation, he added, records of five well-known restaurants, six hotels, four fast food chains and three cafes were examined. Heavy fines were imposed and notices were issued for violations of PRA laws.

The PRA Chairperson emphasized that implementation of Electronic Invoicing and Monitoring System (E-IMS) in the services sector will be ensured at all costs. He stated that timely payment of taxes directly contributes to the continuity and expansion of public welfare projects.

He further said that collecting tax from the public and failing to deposit it into the national exchequer is a punishable offense under the law.

The public is requested to verify the tax paid through the PRA Facilitation Application to ensure transparency and compliance.
