KARACHI: The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has officially declared that all banks will remain closed for two days to observe Eid-ul-Fitr 2026.

According to BPRD Circular Letter No. 06, the SBP informed the presidents and chief executives of all banks, Development Finance Institutions (DFIs), and Microfinance Banks (MFBs) regarding the holiday schedule.

The circular stated that the State Bank of Pakistan and all commercial banks will remain closed on Friday, March 20, and Saturday, March 21, 2026, in line with the national public holiday for Eid celebrations.

This announcement ensures that banking operations, including branch services and financial transactions, will resume on Sunday, March 22, 2026, following the holiday period.

In a separate notification, Circular Letter No. 07, issued on the same day, the SBP also informed all banks of the upcoming public holiday on Monday, March 23, 2026, for the observance of Pakistan Day, as declared by the government. Banks and DFIs are expected to plan their operations accordingly to accommodate these closures.

The SBP’s timely announcements aim to provide clarity to banking customers and businesses, allowing them to plan financial transactions, payments, and banking services ahead of the Eid holidays. Customers are advised to complete urgent banking work prior to the holidays and utilize online banking services where possible.

With these clear directives, the SBP ensures smooth operations and minimal disruption during both Eid-ul-Fitr and Pakistan Day holidays, helping the public and businesses manage their banking needs efficiently.
