Gas prices ease in Pakistan after LPG supply from Iran resumes

ISLAMABAD: A downward trend in gas prices has begun in Pakistan following the restoration of LPG supply from Iran.

According to details, Ali Haider, convener of the LPG standing committee of the FPCCI said that daily supply of approximately 6,000 tonnes of LPG from Iran has returned to normal after the ceasefire and the conclusion of Nowruz holidays, improving availability in the market.

He said that, following the resumption of supply, the price of LPG has already fallen by up to Rs20 per kilogramme, with a further reduction of Rs50 per kilogramme expected in the coming days.

Ali Haider stated that Ogra had fixed the official price of LPG at Rs304 per kilogramme; however, certain elements had raised the rate to between Rs440 and Rs450 per kilogramme.

He added that Pakistan meets around 65 per cent of its LPG requirement through imports, of which 90 per cent is supplied by Iran.
