KARACHI: The Sindh Revenue Board (SRB) has announced the winner of a 1300cc car in its third computerized prize ballot draw, an initiative designed to promote tax compliance through verified Point of Sale (POS) invoices.
The prize draw, held in Karachi on April 9, featured a total of 76 prizes, including a grand 1300cc car, motorcycles, televisions, refrigerators, tablets, mobile phones, smartwatches, and cash rewards. The event was attended by tax consultants, financial advisors, and media representatives to ensure transparency in the selection process.
According to SRB officials, a total of 90,937 verified invoices were entered into the third draw—showing a sharp increase compared to 3,260 invoices in the first draw and 8,734 in the second draw. This surge highlights growing public participation and awareness of the POS invoice verification system.
SRB Chairman Dr. Wasif Ali Memon provided a detailed briefing on the initiative, emphasizing its role in enhancing transparency and encouraging tax compliance among both consumers and businesses.
Under the system, SRB has integrated POS systems of retail outlets—including restaurants and service providers—into its centralized digital platform. This allows real-time reporting of transactions, while customers can verify invoices by scanning QR codes or entering invoice details via the SRB mobile application or official website.
Verified invoices are automatically entered into the computerized prize draw, giving consumers a strong incentive to demand proper receipts and documentation for their purchases.
Officials noted that the initiative is not only helping to verify tax payments but is also contributing to increased revenue collection. By promoting a culture of invoice verification, SRB aims to strengthen transparency and accountability across Sindh’s retail sector.
Following the success of the program, SRB expects wider adoption of POS-integrated invoicing systems, which will ultimately support sustainable tax growth and improved compliance in the province.
