Weekly inflation eases slightly, annual rate rises to 13.98pc

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics has released its weekly inflation report, showing a 0.33 percent decrease in inflation on a weekly basis.

Report stated that, the annual inflation rate in the country has increased to 13.98 percent, compared to 12.16 percent recorded last week.

The report stated that prices of 19 essential items increased over the week, while 9 items became cheaper and 23 remained stable.

Among the items that saw a price rise, potatoes increased by 3.13 percent, bread by 0.91 percent, and cooking oil by 0.69 percent.

Prices of eggs, mutton, chicken, and ghee also recorded an increase during the week.

On the other hand, tomatoes saw a significant decline of 27.65 percent, while onion prices dropped by 9.35 percent. Prices of diesel, LPG, flour, and sugar also decreased.
