ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Finance Bilal Azhar Kayani on Saturday assured the business community that the government would consider the traders’ demand for the introduction of a simplified tax scheme in the upcoming federal budget, reaffirming the government’s commitment to creating a business-friendly environment in the country.
He gave this assurance during a meeting with a delegation of the Pakistan Central Organization of Traders, which was led by its President Kashif Chaudhry, who called on him and presented budget-related proposals for the retail and wholesale sectors, said a news release.
During the meeting, the delegation presented a comprehensive outline of regulatory recommendations aimed at removing obstacles within the existing system, simplifying administrative procedures and creating a conducive environment for the business community to voluntarily comply with tax laws.
Welcoming the delegation, Bilal said all suggestions would be reviewed thoroughly and steps would be taken to promote strategic cooperation while maintaining a balance between revenue generation and trade development.
He reiterated the prime minister’s firm commitment to resolving traders’ issues and taking practical steps to create a business-friendly environment.
He acknowledged the key role of the trade sector in promoting economic activity and generating employment in the country.
The minister assured the delegation that the prime minister would consider the traders’ demand regarding the introduction of a simplified tax scheme while finalizing the budget proposals.
The traders said the government’s consultations with stakeholders ahead of the budget reflected a collaborative and cooperative approach towards addressing issues being faced by the business community.
They particularly demanded the introduction of a simplified tax scheme in the upcoming budget to facilitate traders and improve tax compliance.
The delegation appreciated prime minister for initiating consultations with traders to resolve their problems and paid tribute to Bilal Azhar for his special efforts and positive role in addressing the concerns of the trading community.
