ISLAMABAD: The federal government is expected to revise petroleum prices later today amid reports of a whooping increase in high speed diesel rate.

Petrol prices are likely to be lowered by Rs3 to Rs4 per litre, providing some relief to consumers.

In contrast, high-speed diesel is likely to become significantly more expensive, with an increase of Rs34 to Rs35 per litre being anticipated.

The expected price adjustments come amid fluctuations in international crude oil markets, which continue to influence domestic fuel pricing.

Following the Iran conflict, the government shifted from reviewing petroleum prices fortnightly to a weekly assessment mechanism.

Last week, authorities reduced the prices of both petrol and diesel by Rs22 per litre. At present, petrol is being sold at Rs381.78 per litre, while the price of high-speed diesel stands at Rs380.78 per litre.
