BAHAWALPUR: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Bahawalpur Zone has recovered over Rs530 million in taxes from Islamia University of Bahawalpur, setting a record single-entity recovery.
FBR Bahawalpur Zone Commissioner Mumtaz Khan confirmed the university had outstanding dues of Rs609 million, with enforcement action recovering Rs530 million from the institution.
Commissioner Mumtaz Khan stated that FBR collected over Rs1,000 million in outstanding income tax across Bahawalpur Zone during the past one year alone.
The tax recovery drive also targeted doctors, private hospitals, hotel owners, and mill owners, from whom overdue taxes were successfully collected across the region.
Officials confirmed that no comparable tax recovery volume had been achieved within a single year in Bahawalpur Zone, making the campaign historically significant.
