ISLAMAAD: Pakistan Single Window (PSW) and the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to collaborate on capacity building, executive education, and research in trade facilitation.
The agreement was signed at the PSW Head Office in Islamabad by Aftab Haider, Chief Executive Officer of Pakistan Single Window, and Dr Tariq Jadoon, Provost of LUMS. Dr Muhammad Adeel Zaffar, Dean of the Suleman Dawood School of Business at LUMS, along with senior officials from both institutions, attended the signing ceremony.
Under the partnership, PSW and LUMS will support capacity building initiatives under the Federal Board of Revenues Postgraduate Diploma Program for Probationary Assistant Collectors of Customs. The collaboration will focus on strengthening knowledge and professional skills in cross border trade, digital trade facilitation, logistics, and data governance, along with other areas aligned with PSW mandate.
Both institutions will jointly design executive education programmes, technical trainings, seminars, and other professional development activities on mutually agreed terms. The agreement also allows PSW and LUMS to take part in each other conferences, workshops, policy dialogues, and exhibitions to promote institutional cooperation and knowledge sharing.
The MoU further sets up a framework for joint research initiatives, policy papers, and analytical studies on digital trade, trade facilitation, cross border trade systems, logistics, and data governance. These initiatives are expected to support academic research, evidence based policymaking, and practical insights for stakeholders in Pakistan trade ecosystem, including participants of the diploma programme.
Aftab Haider said developing a modern and efficient trade ecosystem requires continuous investment in human capital and knowledge, adding that the collaboration with LUMS reflects PSW commitment to building institutional capacity and supporting future leaders in customs and trade facilitation.
Dr Tariq Jadoon said LUMS was pleased to partner with PSW in advancing executive education and applied research addressing national priorities, noting that the collaboration combines academic expertise with practical experience to strengthen Pakistan trade and customs landscape.
