ISLAMABAD: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has approved a Rs0.34 per unit increase in electricity tariffs for consumers across Pakistan, including those served by K-Electric, under the monthly fuel cost adjustment mechanism.

According to a notification, the increase has been approved for the May 2026 fuel cost adjustment (FCA) and will be reflected in consumers’ July 2026 electricity bills.

The notification states that the adjustment will apply to electricity consumers nationwide, including K-Electric customers, subject to the applicable terms and conditions of the fuel cost adjustment mechanism.

Nepra said the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) had requested an increase of Rs0.82 per unit for the May fuel cost adjustment. However, after reviewing the petition, the regulator approved an increase of Rs0.34 per unit.

The monthly fuel cost adjustment is a routine mechanism through which electricity tariffs are revised to reflect changes in fuel prices used for power generation.

The latest increase comes at the beginning of the new fiscal year and will add to electricity costs for consumers receiving July billing.
