PRA Chairman, travel agents delegation discuss taxation issues

LAHORE: Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) Chairman Moazzam Iqbal Sipra held a meeting with representatives of Travel Agents Association of Pakistan to discuss matters relating to Punjab Sales Tax on Services concerning travel agents and tour operators.

The delegation apprised the Chairman of issues related to tax registration, return filing and other taxation matters.

The PRA Chairman said that effective engagement between the business community and the tax authority was essential for making the tax system more effective and taxpayer-friendly. He assured that all possible cooperation would be extended to resolve the genuine issues faced by the business community.

He said that alongside digital and online systems, awareness sessions would also be organized to facilitate taxpayers and enhance their understanding of tax compliance.

The participants agreed on the need to promote awareness regarding tax compliance, transparent business practices and accurate tax payment.

He said that facilitating and guiding all service providers, including travel agents, remained among PRA’s key priorities.

The delegation also presented proposals aimed at simplifying the tax system and making compliance easier for the business community.

It was agreed to constitute a committee between PRA and the Travel Agents Association of Pakistan to ensure continued coordination and awareness regarding taxation matters.

The PRA Chairman said that in line with the directions of Chief Minister Punjab, facilitating taxpayers and strengthening their trust in the tax system remained among the Authority’s top priorities.
