Balochistan govt employees to face Rs500 tax deduction

QUETTA: The Balochistan government has decided to deduct Rs500 annually from the salaries of its employees as profession and employment tax under newly implemented provincial legislation.

The Balochistan Finance Department has issued formal orders for the deduction and directed relevant accounts offices to ensure the tax is collected in accordance with the law.

Under the decision, Rs500 will be deducted every year from the salaries of Balochistan government employees as profession and employment tax.

The move follows the implementation of the Balochistan Professions, Trades, Callings and Employment Tax Act 2026, which provides the legal framework for the collection.

Finance Dept issues instructions

The Balochistan Finance Department has issued a letter to the Accountant General Balochistan and all District Accounts Officers, formally communicating the decision.

All District Accounts Officers have been instructed to ensure that the Rs500 tax is deducted from the salaries of government employees.

Tax collection to follow law

The Finance Department directed the relevant authorities to collect the tax strictly in accordance with the applicable law, rules and regulations.

The department has also instructed officials to keep the Balochistan Revenue Authority (BRA) informed about the tax deductions.
