QUETTA: An armed attack was carried out on the Pakistan Customs Station at Mand, Radeeho Border, on the night of 21 September 2026 at approximately 2030 hours, when multiple unidentified armed assailants attacked the Customs Station.
The assailants forcibly entered the Customs Station, comprising approximately four rooms, broke open the office door and set the premises on fire while resorting to indiscriminate firing in different directions.
During the attack, Sepoy Muhammad Siraj of Pakistan Customs sustained two bullet injuries to his right arm. The nearby FC 165 Wing responded promptly, following which an exchange of fire took place. No further casualty has been reported so far.
Preliminary information suggests that the attack may be linked to threats received by Customs personnel in the days preceding the incident, following enforcement actions undertaken at Mand.
These included the detention of LPG bowsers proceeding towards Turbat until payment of applicable duties and taxes and enforcement of customs compliance requirements regarding the movement of local provisions and perishable goods.
Threats were reportedly conveyed to Customs personnel posted at the station following these enforcement measures.
However, the exact motive and circumstances behind the attack remain under investigation. The assailants are reportedly suspected to be affiliated with the proscribed BLA; however, their affiliation has not been independently established at this stage.
The injured Customs official was initially shifted to DHQ Hospital, Turbat, for medical treatment and has subsequently been referred to Karachi. The concerned Collectorate is making arrangements for his prompt transfer and admission to a suitable hospital for further treatment.
Pakistan Customs strongly condemns this cowardly and reprehensible attack on its personnel and premises. The department remains firmly committed to safeguarding Pakistan’s economic frontiers and combating cross-border smuggling and other illicit activities.
Pakistan Customs is maintaining close coordination with the Frontier Corps and the local administration to ensure security, strengthen enforcement and respond effectively to emerging threats. Despite such incidents, Pakistan Customs remains resolute in discharging its lawful responsibilities and will continue its efforts to curb smuggling and protect the national economy.
