ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has announced the auction of a 32-kanal property in Bahria Golf City, Rawalpindi, as part of efforts to recover outstanding tax liabilities of approximately Rs. 26.4 billion.
According to an auction notice issued by the FBR’s Large Taxpayers Office (LTO), Islamabad, the property comprises 32 kanals and 11 marlas of land, along with a constructed house and built-up area.
The property is located at Plot No. 1, Street No. R2A, Bahria Golf City, Mauza Salkhater, Tehsil and District Rawalpindi.
The auction is scheduled to take place on October 6, 2026. The FBR notice states that the proceedings are being conducted under the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001, and Income Tax Rules, 2002, for recovery of outstanding tax liabilities.
The move comes as the tax authority continues enforcement action to recover long-pending tax demands through the attachment and sale of immovable assets.
Under Pakistan’s income-tax recovery framework, authorities can attach and sell eligible immovable property through public auction or tender, subject to the prescribed legal procedures and approvals.
FBR Intensifies Property Recovery Drive
The latest auction follows a broader recovery drive over tax demands relating to tax years 2020 and 2022. Enforcement proceedings have previously extended to several major properties associated with Bahria Town.
Among the properties targeted was a 527-kanal, 10-marla property in Murree, which underwent multiple auction attempts before being sold in July 2026.
The FBR has also previously auctioned a Bahria Town property located on Park Road, Islamabad, with the proceedings generating approximately Rs. 2.05 billion, according to details provided in connection with the recovery process.
FBR Auction Separate From NAB Proceedings
The October 6 auction is separate from proceedings conducted by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) involving Bahria Town-related assets.
NAB has pursued the sale of various properties as part of recovery proceedings linked to a plea bargain.
In June 2025, the accountability watchdog announced the auction of several assets, including Bahria Town corporate offices on Park Road, Rawalpindi, Rubaish Marquee and Lawn in Islamabad, Arena Cinema, Bahria Town International Academy and Safari Club.
Those proceedings were conducted under Section 33-E of the National Accountability Ordinance, 1999.
The latest October 6 FBR auction is instead a tax-recovery proceeding, being carried out under the income-tax laws to recover outstanding liabilities.
The auction highlights the FBR’s continued reliance on enforcement measures, including the sale of attached properties, to improve tax recovery and settle unpaid government dues.
