KARACHI: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited Karachi Port and inspected 21 state-of-the-art rescue and firefighting vehicles imported from China for Islamabad.
The modern fleet, acquired under an agreement between Pakistan and China, is valued at 72.31 million Chinese yuan, equivalent to approximately Rs3 billion. It represents the biggest upgrade to the federal capital’s fire brigade fleet in the past 17 years.
The consignment includes a modern snorkel fire tender capable of carrying out rescue operations at heights of up to 88 metres, particularly in high-rise buildings.
According to the interior minister, the vehicles will be transported to Islamabad within the next five days and deployed at different fire stations across the capital.
The new fleet is expected to enhance Islamabad’s emergency response capabilities, strengthen rescue operations and improve public safety during fire and other emergencies.
