KARACHI: Wateen Telecom, Pakistan’s leading ICT and digital solutions provider, has entered into a strategic partnership with FonGreen Silicon Technologies (FoST), the official zone developer of the Foundation Renewable & Technology Zone (FRTZ) in Karachi, Sindh.

FoST is developing FRTZ as a hub for renewable energy manufacturing and emerging technologies. Under the agreement, Wateen will deliver a Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON) and an AI-powered CCTV and Vision Analytics solution for the zone.

The agreement was signed between FonGreen Silicon Technologies & Wateen Telecom. Senior representatives from both organizations attended the signing ceremony.

As part of this partnership, Wateen will design, deploy, operate, and maintain a fiber-based Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON) across the FoST zone. Alongside this, Wateen will supply, install, integrate, and commission a comprehensive CCTV and AI Vision Analytics solution at FoST’s premises, pairing modern surveillance infrastructure with AI-based video analytics. Wateen will provide round-the-clock monitoring, maintenance, and technical support for the full term of the agreement.

Speaking at the ceremony, CEO/MD, FonGreen Silicon Technologies, stated: “FRTZ reflects our belief in what Pakistan can build when ambition is given the right environment. Through FoST, we are creating a place where renewable energy and emerging technologies can grow into industries that create opportunity far beyond the zone itself.

Wateen has a defining role in bringing that vision to life. The connectivity and intelligent security it will deliver will help make FRTZ a place where enterprises can invest with confidence, ideas can take hold, and progress can endure.”

Mr. Adil Rashid, Chief Executive Officer, Wateen Telecom, also shared his thoughts: “FRTZ is a statement of confidence in Pakistan’s future. It reflects a belief that we can build real strength in renewable energy and technology here at home. FoST has set that ambition in motion, and Wateen shares the conviction behind it.

Wateen has spent years connecting this country, and this partnership brings that experience together with AI to protect what is being built. We are committed to helping create something Pakistan can look to with pride, something that shows what is possible when a bold idea is carried through with purpose.”
