ISLAMABAD: Pakistan will host its flagship minerals investment forum on November 12–13 in Islamabad, bringing together global mining leaders, investors and policymakers to explore partnerships and develop projects across the country’s mineral sector.

The two-day forum will bring together government officials, international investors, mining executives, policymakers and technical experts to explore investment opportunities in Pakistan’s mineral resources.

Organisers expect more than 5,000 delegates from over 50 countries, positioning the event as a platform for international partnerships and discussions on the future of the country’s minerals industry.

The forum will be held at the Jinnah Convention Centre in Islamabad and will feature a strategic conference, a technical conference and an international exhibition. The programme is designed to connect investors and project developers with government representatives and companies offering mining technologies and services.

Critical minerals, investment policies, exploration financing, geological research and infrastructure development are among the key areas scheduled for discussion. Sessions will also examine how Pakistan can improve its attractiveness as a mining destination through more predictable regulations, stronger governance, skills development and closer cooperation with international partners.

According to the published programme, the opening day will feature discussions on building investor-ready mining jurisdictions, Pakistan’s role in the global energy transition and financing early-stage mineral exploration. Sessions will also examine the development of new mining projects, workforce training and greater participation of women in the sector.

The programme lists addresses by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, alongside contributions from government representatives and international mining industry leaders. The second day will focus on cooperation between geological survey organisations, infrastructure and export corridors, sustainable mining practices and the development of local technical capabilities.

Pakistan is seeking to translate its mineral potential into greater investment, industrial activity and export earnings. The country’s copper and gold resources, including the Reko Diq project in Balochistan, are central to efforts to attract international mining companies and develop a stronger position in global mineral supply chains.

However, converting resource potential into lasting economic gains will depend on investment commitments being translated into operational projects, alongside improvements in infrastructure, regulatory certainty, security, environmental management and benefits for local communities. Greater domestic processing and the development of skilled local workforces will also be important if mining expansion is to generate broader economic value.

The forum was initially scheduled for April 8–9, 2026, but was rescheduled to November. Organisers said the change followed consideration of regional developments and the international travel environment, with the revised dates intended to provide greater certainty for overseas participation.

PMIF26 is expected to provide a platform for discussions on new partnerships, project opportunities and policy reforms. The broader challenge for Pakistan will be to turn international interest into sustained investment, responsible mineral development and measurable economic benefits.
