ISLAMABAD: The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has increased regasified liquefied natural gas (RLNG) prices by up to 15.3% for October, raising gas supply costs for consumers served by Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) and Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL).
According to OGRA’s notification, RLNG transmission prices for SNGPL increased by 13.9% to $15.94 per million British thermal units (mmBtu), while distribution prices rose by 14% to $17.33 per mmBtu. For SSGCL, transmission prices increased by 15.25% to $14.53 per mmBtu, while distribution rates climbed 15.27% to $16.396 per mmBtu.
The increase follows a 20% reduction in RLNG prices in September and comes amid higher international LNG import costs. The average delivered LNG price rose from $10.06 per mmBtu in September to $10.75 in October. Higher RLNG costs are also expected to increase fuel expenses for power generation in December.
The additional costs reflect LNG supply chain charges, company margins, and distribution losses. SNGPL reported distribution losses of 8.97%, while SSGCL’s losses stood at 12.55%.
