KARACHI: The Chief Minister of Sindh, Syed Murad Ali Shah, has called for expanding the province’s digital payment infrastructure to make it easier for citizens to pay utility bills and government dues online.

He made the remarks during a meeting with a delegation of digital financial services providers at the Chief Minister’s House.

The discussions focused on improving transparency in government revenue collection and providing citizens with faster and more convenient ways to pay official bills and challans.

The Chief Minister emphasized that facilitating the public in the payment of government dues is a top priority for his administration.

He stressed the need to use modern technology to eliminate the need for citizens to visit government offices physically, thereby reducing bureaucracy and saving public time.

During the meeting, officials were informed that digital payment services were already being used for traffic e-challans and Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC) bills.

The chief minister expressed interest in extending the system to include the collection of Sindh Food Authority challans.

He said expanding digital payment facilities would improve transparency, efficiency and accountability in revenue collection across government departments.

He reaffirmed the Sindh Government’s commitment to promoting digital governance and a cashless economy across the province.

He directed Sindh Bank and the provincial Information Technology Department to review potential areas of collaboration with digital payment service providers.

Both parties agreed to expand the digital recovery system for official bills and challans to make government services more accessible and transparent for the people of Sindh.
