Samsung Galaxy E5 & E7 smartphones to go on sale from January 20 in India in Rs. 19,700 & Rs. 23,000

NEW DELHI: Samsung has unveiled two mid-tier smartphones in its brand new Galaxy E-series the Galaxy E5 and the Galaxy E7. The smartphones have been priced at Rs. 19,700 and Rs. 23,000 respectively, and will go on sale from January 20.

The India launch marks the first time the Galaxy E-series smartphones have been announced globally. The series, said to be targeted at the youth segment, is described as made up of ‘powerful and compact’ smartphones with a good viewing and selfie experience.

Both smartphones feature what Samsung is calling ‘Hybrid Dual-SIM’, allowing the second SIM slot to be used as a microSD card slot. The Android 4.4 Kit Kat-based Samsung Galaxy E5 features a 5-inch Super-Amoled display, and is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor (unspecified chipset) coupled with 1.5GB of RAM. It bears an 8-megapixel rear autofocus camera with LED flash, and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera.

The Galaxy E5 features 16GB of inbuilt storage that is expandable via microSD card (up to 64GB), and bears 3G (HSPA+), Wi-Fi, Micro-USB 2.0, Bluetooth 4.0, and A-GPS/ GLONASS connectivity options. It measures 141.6×70.2×7.3mm, and comes with a 2400mAh battery.

On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy E7 sports a 5.5-inch Super-Amoled display, and is also powered by an unspecified 1.2GHz quad-core processor coupled with 2GB of RAM. It sports a 13-megapixel rear autofocus camera with LED flash, and a 5-megapixiel front-facing camera.

The Galaxy E7 bears 16GB of inbuilt storage that is expandable via microSD card (up to 64GB), and offers 3G (HSPA+), Wi-Fi, Micro-USB 2.0, Bluetooth 4.0, and A-GPS/ GLONASS connectivity options. It measures 151.3×77.2×7.3mm, and comes with a 2950mAh battery.

Both smartphones feature wide angle selfie, selfie voice command, selfie with palm gesture, and beauty face features, apart from ultra power saving mode and private mode.
