SYDNEY: Volkswagen has launched its 2015 sales campaign in Australia, with an update to its Amarok pickup range.
Headlining the update is the addition of two new models, while existing models receive some new features.
New to the range is an Amarok Single Cab TDI420 variant with 4MOTION 4WD and automatic transmission, joining similar Cab Chassis and Dual Cab models with the same drive train.
Meanwhile, those looking for a dual cab Amarok without the need for 4WD can now consider the new TDI420 Dual Cab 2WD model with automatic.
Trendline, Highline and Ultimate variants continue to be available, while the entry-level 4MOTION Dual Cab model has been renamed ‘Core Edition’.
New Bi-Xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights are now standard with the Amarok Ultimate, while all variants now get body-coloured bumpers.
The Ultimate also scores 19-inch alloy wheels.
The Core Edition gets 16-inch ‘Korama’ alloy wheels with Pirelli all-terrain tyres, while the Trendline and Highline get 17-inch wheels.
Trendline models add front and rear parking sensors, while new items on the options list include RNS315 satellite navigation, a rear-view camera and lumbar support for the front seats.
Highline customers get the rear-view camera and lumbar support seats as standard along with Volkswagen’s ‘Light and Sight’ package (rain sensing wipers and automatic headlamps), while Bi-Xenon headlamps are now optional.
The Amarok keeps its 2.0 litre diesel engine with single- or twin-turbochargers and varying torque and power outputs across the range, matched to either a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmission.
The 2015 Volkswagen Amarok is on sale now, priced from $35,490 plus on-road costs.
