RTO Superintendent dismissed over inefficiency, misconduct, corruption

ISLAMABAD: Federal Board of Revenue has dismissed Nawaz Ali Shaikh, Superintendent (BS-16), Regional Tax Office, Karachi (presently posted in Directorate of Internal Audit (Customs), Lahore) over inefficiency and misconduct.

As per details, Dr Shamsul Hadi, Additional Commissioner, RTO, Karachi was appointed as Inquiry Officer to probe into the account of various acts of omission and commission committed by the accused officer constituting inefficiency, misconduct and corruption under the Government Servants (Efficiency & Discipline) Rules, 1973.

The Inquiry Officer submitted inquiry, according to which the charges levied against he accused officer were proved. The show cause notice was issued to the accused officers and in response, they submitted their defence replies.

The Board, after considering the inquiry report, reply of the accused to the Show Cause Notice, found the officers guilty of “Inefficiency”, “Misconduct” and “Corruption”.

The Member (Admin) being the Authority in the case, after having considered all aspects and the recommendations of the authorised officer, imposed the major penalty of “dismissal from service” upon Nawaz Ali Shaikh under rule 4(1)b(iv) of the Govt Servants (Efficiency & Discipline) Rules, 1973 with mediate effect. The officer has the right of appeal as admissible in the Civil Servants (Appeal) Rules, 1977.
