KARACHI: Despite reducing running expenditures significantly to Rs45 million per day from Rs70 million, the financial condition is getting worse of Pakistan International Airline (PIA) as it failed to pay full salary to its employees for the first time in its history since 1955.
As per reports, the airline is facing severe financial crisis as for the first time in its history, it has paid half salary to its employees for the month of December, 2014.
On the other hand, the PIA management is excessively spending money in the name of revival while of the other, employees are not being paid salaries.
Reports said that the management of airline was now going to engage private Public Relations firm to make media benevolent for PIA, despite having its own PR department.
These reports indicate that one of the three finalists had now signed the contract against Rs1.8 million per month and formal announcement in this regard would be made, shortly.
At a time when the staff is without salary, the management excessive spending is questionable as the management should ensure salaries to the staff timely.
