LAHORE: The Federal Board of Revenue should release Tax Refunds timely without any discrimination as the delay in refunds is hurting the business community.

Talking to Customs Today, the tax lawyers said that FBR did not issue refunds to traders just to manage the revenue collection digits before government instead of facilitating the business community. They said that FBR online database did not show the list of all cases regarding the tax refunds. They added that only those were enlisted in online database who were granted by department instead of all.

They added that business community played an important role in revenue generation of country but it was not assisted by FBR at time of need. They said traders need investment every time but on the other hand refunds of billion rupees were pending for many years.

They also said there was also factor of political interference in refunds cases as a specific sector was being granted tax refunds by the department. They demanded department should not play a dual role as the laws were equal for all.
