TEXAS: Rio Grande Valley Sector Border Patrol agents confiscated almost 1,300 pounds of marijuana in three seizures.
In the largest seizure, agents assigned to the Rio Grande City Station observed 10 subjects carrying bundles of marijuana. The subjects dropped the bundles and fled back to Mexico when confronted by agents. After searching the area they discovered five large bundles, weighing 464 pounds.
Early morning seizure near Escobares, TexasTwo additional morning seizures yielded the Rio Grande City agents 413 and 416 pounds respectively. All told, 1,293 pounds of marijuana, with an estimated value of more than $1 million were confiscated, all before lunchtime.
The narcotics were transported to the Rio Grande City Station for processing and will be turned over to the appropriate law enforcement agency.
