NHA to complete policy framework for construction of new interchanges

ISLAMABAD: National Highway Authority (NHA) is going to finalize the policy framework for construction of new interchanges on NHA network, not qualifying for government investment criteria but required by the private sector for access to a business center or a residential area.
An official of the NHA said that final decision regarding policy for interchanges shall be taken by NHA Executive Board and after the approval from Executive Board it shall be presented to the National Highway Council.
To a question he said during planning stage of the project, requirement for an interchange is based upon traffic analysis and economic benefits.
Government’s policies for industrial development along the corridor are also taken in to consideration, he said.
Replying to a question, he said that Peshawar-Islamabad Motorway (M-1) has interchanges at Fatehjang, Brahma-Bhatar, Burhan, Rashaki, Swabi, Chachh, Ghazi, Charsadda, Northern Bypass and Peshawar Ring road.
Islamabad-Lahore Motorway (M2) interchanges include Zero Point Lahore, Babu Sabu Interchange, Faiz Pure Interchange, Kot Abdul Malik Interchange, Kala Shah Kaku Interchange, Sheikhupura Interchange, Khanqah Dogran Interchange, Sukheki Interchange, Motorway, Pindi Bhattian-Faisalabad, Pindi Bhattian Interchange, Makhdoom Interchange, Kot Momin Interchange, Saalam Interchange, Bhera Interchange, Lilla Sharif Interchange, Kallar Kahar Interchange, Balkassar Interchange, Chakri Interchange and M2-M1 Junction, Islamabad.
