ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Pakistan Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has instructed FBR to stop funding of terrorists. Chairman FBR along with other members look puzzled and found asking each other how they can play role in prevention of this funding. They are also looking for possible ways falling in their jurisdiction to counter this funding. Although this statement has been issued from Prime Minister House but FBR has still not received any orders in writing.

FBR is a revenue collecting body how can they forbid someone from sending funds, although they can stop illegal transfer of money through means of Hundi and Hawala using Customs intelligence. Only State Bank of Pakistan is such an institute that can effectively stop terrorist’s funding by looking into bank accounts and observing the regular transfer of amounts to different people or organizations.

FBR authorities believe that achieving the revenue targets is itself a very difficult task and they cannot take other duty which is responsibility of some other department. They say if this responsibility is put on them, neither they will be able to achieve revenue targets nor this funding would stop.
