LAHORE: Pakistan imported items worth Rs 1.75 billion during January 1-15, 2015 from India via Wagha border, while total tax almost Rs 226 million was collected during the said period, according to official documents available with Customs Today.

Pakistan imported tomatoes, garlic, polyethylene, ginger, cotton yarn etc from India during first 15 days of 2015.

Pakistan imported 12,786,735 kilo gram (Kg) tomatoes worth Rs 589.5 million, while Rs 35.2 million was generated by getting Income Tax on tomatoes import. On the other hand, garlic 136594 kg, worth Rs 14 million was imported and income tax on garlic remained Rs 0.8 million. Documents show that Pakistan imported 144982 kg fruits (H.S Code 709-6000) from India worth Rs 9.6 million, while the Rs 0.4 million as duty tax and income tax Rs 0.6 million was collected. Ginger worth Rs 53.8 million was imported; however duty tax Rs 8 million and Income Tax Rs 3.7 million was collected.

Pakistan imported Peas worth Rs 196.5 million and Rs 9.7 million was collected as duty tax and Rs 12.5 million as income taxes. Besides, vegetables like cucumbers, beans, carrots, radishes and other edible roots were imported worth Rs 23.3 million, while duty tax Rs 1.2 million and income tax Rs 1.6 million were collected.

Pakistan also imported soya bean worth Rs 550 million during January 1-15, while duty tax Rs 27.3 million, sales tax Rs 28.4 million, additional sales tax Rs 2.5 million and income tax Rs 28 million were collected by Pakistan customs.

As per detail, Pakistan has imported polyethylene of Rs 46.3 million, while the customs collected Rs 1.5 million as duty tax, Rs 5.5 million as sales tax and Rs 2 million as income tax. Similarly, polypropylene worth Rs 183 million was imported, while total tax Rs 46 million was collected on polypropylene import.

Besides that, Pakistan also imported cotton yarn worth Rs 34.3 million; cotton not combed Worth Rs 31 million from and non-woven worth Rs 1.9 million from India via Wagha border.

As a whole, Pakistan import stands at Rs 1.75 billion from India via Wagha Border and total collected tax remained Rs 226 million.
