KARACHI: A fire broke out at a shop in Tibet Centre, one of the main car accessories and spare parts markets in the metropolis here on Monday.

According to the fire brigade officials, the motive behind the fire was short-circuiting. On information, they rushed to the spot with two fire-tenders and doused off the fire at the early stage.

The firefighters said that smoke emitting from the closed shop alarmed people who informed the fire brigade. They pointed out that inadequate alarm system in the market dealing in goods business worth millions of rupees could had been a major disaster.

To a question, they agreed that there was a dire need for the government to ascertain causes of sudden surge in fire incidents, especially in the commercial hub of the country.

Most of these instances have been registered in industrial areas and commercial centres, including factories and warehouses.
