KOLKATA: Unable to get any reprieve from the ongoing Ericsson patent row over the sale of Redmi Note devices, Xiaomi is planning to launch its next device Mi 4 smartphone in India on January 28.
While the device is being sold globally at $379.99 (Rs.23,474), according to an Indian Express report, quoting Xiaomi India head Manu Jain, the price of the Mi 4 smartphone in India would be around Rs 20,000, which means Xiaomi keeping its Bata-shoe pricing structure would keep the price at Rs.19,999.
Otherwise, it is being sold at $300 after discounts, without local taxes in other markets. Though Mi4 was released in Beijing in July, it was supposed to hit the Indian market in December last but the patent delay has apparently delayed its launch to January.
