27.5mm size, 10g weight, 75% copper, 25% nickel: SBP to issue Rs20 coin to mark Pak-China friendship

KARACHI: The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) will issue a special Rs20 commemorative coin on Jan 31 to mark the Pakistan-China Year of Friendly Exchange 2015.

The 27.5mm coin weighs 10 grams and contains 75 per cent copper and 25pc nickel with serration on its edges.

The coin has a waxing crescent with a five-pointed star facing northwest in an ascending position in the centre on the obverse side. Along the periphery on top of the crescent and star the words ‘Islami Jamhuria Pakistan’ are inscribed in Urdu. Below it, on top of two springs of wheat with curved arms, the year of the coin’s issuance, 2015, is written.

At the centre of the reverse side are flags of Pakistan and China. The phrase ‘year of friendly exchange 2015’ is inscribed above the flags.
