NEW YORK: The Microsoft has revealed new software browser named Spartan in an event.
Microsoft’s Joe Belfiore explained that this browser has been built from scratch. It has not been confirmed if this browser will come as an update to the existing Windows Explorer or will be launched as a completely different browser. The company is looking to transform the maligned image of Internet Explorer by using this browser.
Though the Internet Explorer is one of the most used browser in the world but is not as advanced and popular as its rivals Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox. Spartan is definitely raising curiosities as the company has promoted it as something new that has been built from the scratch.
Joe Belfiore segregated the changes in 3 major sections.
Collaboration
-Spartan features collaboration between users. This will feature will let users doodle over any web page through input methods like touch, Stylus or Keyboard. Different users can make changes on the web page simultaneously. The browser will also have a built-in system to share instantly on Facebook and other major social networks.
Reading
This new feature will allow users to instantly snip important content on a webpage to create a distraction free reading experience. There will be a reading list that will sync with different devices and save pages for later offline reference. There will be a built-in support for PDF files on the reading list.
Cortana built-i
Cortana will automatically pop up by judging the need of the user. The virtual assistant will be capable of reading within the web pages to help users spot any content easily. Cortana can provide users with useful information in accordance to the web page you are visiting.
Belfiore clearly stated that the browser will only launched for PCs initially but will soon be followed by a mobile version of the browser. Spartan is Microsoft’s reply to the advanced browsers that are much more popular than the current offering from the company.
