Pakhtunkhwa administration to request OGRA to cancel NOCs of filling stations for overcharging

PESHAWAR: Regional Transport Authority (RTA) Secretary Niamatullah Khan has said that a stern action is being taken against those who were selling petrol on high prices or in black.

The RTA secretary said that all the petrol pumps in Peshawar division are opened selling fuels to customers on government prescribed rate. Rejecting the impression of petrol crisis in Pakhtunkhwa, he said that petrol was easily available in all petrol pumps of the province and provincial government was in close touch with authorities concerned in order to ensure smooth availability and flow of petroleum products to petrol pumps for facilitation of people.

He said that the Peshawar administration took strong notice of reports that some of owners of petrol pumps have created artificial crisis in Peshawar division for monetary gains and started crackdown. The managers of 12 filling stations on ring road, Kohat road, Saifan Chowk, Bazikhel, Badhber and Qari Qamardin were arrested for overcharging and not selling petroleum products on government prescribe rates. The district administration would also requested the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) to cancel the no-objection certificates (NoCs) of these filling stations. He said that the government would continue to take strict action against owners of petrol pumps found guilty and would be sent to jail.
