Three Senate bodies discuss current petrol crisis

ISLAMABAD: Three relevant standing committees of the Senate deliberate on the prevailing petrol crisis on Friday in a joint meeting here.

The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources and Water and Power and Finance and Revenue briefed the meeting regarding future of supply of petrol as well as possible power outrage due to much talked shortage of furnace oil in the country.

According to Chairman Senate Syed Nayyer Hussain Bokhari, he took serious note of the petroleum crisis and called an emergency joint meeting of the Senate Standing Committees on Finance, Petroleum and Water and Power two days back. A well-placed source at the Finance Ministry told this scribe that single point agenda before the committee meeting inquired into the causes of current petroleum products crisis in the country.
