More than 500 patwaris of the various divisions are protesting against the Punjab government. Four patwaris have been suspended in Jahanian and another two have been transferred in this regard.

The Khanewal assistant commissioner has also served show-cause notice on all patwaris of the division. The city government has suffered Rs 10 million losses in the form of registry and property transfer fees in the last two days.

Patwari Association General Secretary Malik Afzal said that the protest would be continued until the restoration of suspended patwaris. He also urged the government to withdraw the show-cause notice. Afzal added, “The government is trying to harass our staff through disciplinary actions.”

He flayed the Khanewal assistant commissioner for what he called “bias” towards the patwaris.
