KUWAIT CITY: Kuwait Criminal Investigations Department has arrested three smugglers included two Kuwaitis, and a GCC citizen, in connection with the theft of weapons from a munitions depot of the Ministry of Defense, officials said here the other day.
Intensive investigations led to the arrest of one of the suspects who later guided police to his two accomplices. A security source said some stolen weapons have been recovered from the suspects.
However, officials said two people have been apprehended for stealing 11 pistols and a rifle from the Jahra military camp belonging to the Ministry of Defense. One of the suspects is a Kuwaiti military man who was discharged from service and the other is a bedoun.
The suspects sold some of the weapons and the others have been recovered from them. Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Sheikh Khaled Al-Jarrah was quoted as saying the arrests was a result of joint efforts and coordination by the competent security authorities in the Ministry of Interior.
