SINGAPORE: Singapore Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) officers have seized two bundles of heroin weighing about 950gm and clutched two Malaysians at Woodlands Checkpoint here after the found two bundles of heroin hidden in the rear seat cavity of a Malaysian-registered motorcycle here the other day.
In an operation on Sunday, CNB said the two male suspects, a 26-year-old rider and a 37-year-old pillion rider, were travelling on the motorcycle into Singapore when they were stopped.
CNB said the heroin seized in this operation was enough to sustain the addiction of about 480 abusers for a week. Investigations are ongoing.
The arrest of the two Malaysians at Woodlands Checkpoint was part of an extensive island-wide operation conducted from Monday to Friday where CNB officers arrested another 101 suspected drug offenders.
Drugs worth more than S$85,000 (RM 226,000) were seized, including about 1kg of heroin, 18 grams of Ice, 9 Erimin-5 tablets, 25 Ecstasy tablets, 290 grams of cannabis and a small amount of ketamine.
Officers from the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA), Singapore Police Force (SPF) and Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) supported the operation.
