RAWALPINDI – Irritated by the further delay in metro bus project worth Rs44.21 billion, traders and businessmen of Saddar and Murree Road demanded that the government should write off their taxes for one year, as it had to be completed on 25 December, 2014.
They said that business of Saddar Bazaar have been affected because of construction work of track for metro bus for the last one year. Sheikh Kashif Ameen said that the government should strictly direct the construction companies to increase heavy machineries and labours to speed up construction work on the track for completion without delay.
Nasir Hussain, another trader, said that the project was to be completed on 25 December, 2014 and due to slow space of work it was delayed for one month till January 30 but now it was delayed for further two months increasing troubles for businessmen and traders.
Zafar Iqbal said that customers are not visiting to their shops due to closure of Murree Road. It has become very difficult for the traders to pay rent of shops, he said. Abdul Sattar said that many roads of Saddar linked with Murree Road including Bank Road, Adam Jee Road and Saadi Road were closed due to which shopkeepers and citizens have been facing problems and he demanded to open these roads.
