China Exim Bank, Bangladesh sign $185m deal to build 6 new ships

SHANGHAI: China, import-export Exim Bank signed a deal of 185 million dollar loan with Bangladesh for the construction of six new ships.The new buildings comprise of three bulk carriers and three oil tankers.

State owned Bangladesh Shipping Corporation (BSC) owns a fleet of eight vessels with five in operation. The ship owner seeks to renew its fleet as the average age of its fleet is over 30 years old.
