Xiaomi to launch Mi4 4G LTE mobile in India tomorrow in Rs 20,000 with 3 GB RAM

NEW DELHI: It has been that Chinese handset maker Xiaomi will launch its 4G device Mi4 in India tomorrow, looking to strengthen its position in the booming smartphone market. Earlier, in an exclusive interaction with IndianExpress.com, Xiaomi India head Manu Jain had hinted that the price of the upcoming Mi 4 smartphone would be around Rs 20,000.

The company, which entered the Indian market last year, has launched Redmi 1S, Redmi Note and Mi3 in partnership with e-commerce major Flipkart.

Xiaomi, Xiaomi Mi 4, Xiaomi mobileOften called the Apple of China, Xiaomi launched the Mi4 in July last year. However, the device did not hit the Indian market. Last week, Xiaomi had launched its flagship smartphones, the Mi Note and Mi Note Pro, at an event in Beijing.

Xiaomi Mi 4 smartphone sports a 5-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels at 441 ppi along with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. It runs on a 2.5 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 CPU with 3GB RAM. Running Android 4.4.3 KitKat operating system sugarcoated with MIUI 6, the phone will offer a 13MP rear camera along with an 8M front camera. The rear camera will support 4K video recording.

On the connectivity front, Xiaomi Mi 4 will support 4G LTE network along with 3G, WiFi, and Bluetooth and is powered by a 3080 mAh battery.

According to IDC, in the quarter ended September 2014, Samsung led the Indian smartphone market with 24 per cent share, followed by Micromax with 20 per cent, Lava and Karbonn at 8 per cent each and Motorola at 5 per cent.
